We learn orientation by working inside it.
We started on October 2, 2001, helping institutions manage orientation reservations. That work taught us orientation was never only a program or an event. It is an institutional process: leadership, campus partners, advisors, supporters, student leaders, systems, and the people who hold those pieces together.
At the center were orientation professionals, bringing those pieces together around something much more important: helping students prepare for the transition into their institution.
That changed how we thought about technology. The system was never the purpose. The people were.
People first. Systems second.
As we learned more, our questions evolved too. Not simply whether someone completed something, but what their journey might help orientation professionals understand. Not simply what technology could do, but what institutions actually needed it to do.
That learning continues to shape Onboarding Intelligence and the evolution of VZOS®.
